A region on the move
By becoming a "Territoire d'industrie" in 2019 with our neighbours from the Communauté de Communes de Châteaubriant-Derval, we're going one step further! Together, our two areas have 110,000 inhabitants, nearly 6,000 businesses and more than 40,000 jobs, as well as a high proportion of industrial and construction jobs: 31% of our jobs (compared with only 24% in the region and 19% nationally).

The example of Manitou :
In the Pays d'Ancenis, it's the initiative and pragmatism of local people that have built the economic dynamic. Manitou is a fine example of this in our region. The story of this company, which is now internationally renowned, began in 1958 when its founder Marcel BRAUD had to find a solution to the problem of limited imports of Japanese vehicles into France, including forklift trucks. He developed an original machine by reversing the layout of an agricultural tractor, adding a lifting mast and hydraulic steering. The first all-terrain forklift truck was born and launched Manitou on the road to worldwide success!
