On the weekend of 19 and 20 September, come and (re)discover the heritage of the Pays d’Ancenis as part of the European Heritage Days (JEP)!
The wharf was renamed ‘Francis Poul’ by the local council to pay tribute to this famous fisherman from Cellier. Born in Fossé Neuf (49), he discovered fishing at a very young age. His career in the maritime sector took him all over the world.
Whenever he returned from a trip, he would return to his beloved Loire, recharging his batteries right there at the quay in Clermont-sur-Loire, where he lived. He specialised in fisheries regulations and contributed to the writing of several books, including the guide to river and lake fishing gear in mainland France.
This book remains the standard reference on the subject. A gifted storyteller, he also wrote *La toue de galerne*, a novel depicting the life of a family of Loire fishermen.
