Immerse yourself in the history of Ancenis Castle through a hundred rare and previously unpublished images.
The exhibition at Ancenis Castle invites visitors on a journey through the works of major artists. From William Turner to Jean Coraboeuf, via Hortense Tanvet, Ancenis Castle has inspired leading figures in painting and printmaking, as well as photographers such as Nathalie Gautier, who is well known to local residents.
With the support of the Association for Research on the Ancenis Region (ARRA), Bertrand Boquien, historian and exhibition curator, and Frédérik Canard, scenographer at La Plume et Le Plomb, this exhibition sets out to tell the story across the centuries through images.
Featuring drawings, engravings, photographs and postcards dating from the 17th to the 21st century, visitors will wander from room to room discovering around a hundred rare or previously unpublished depictions of the château.
In a reconstructed classroom, visitors will also be able to listen to the stories of around fifteen people who frequented the château when it was still a place of living and learning: pupils,
teachers, school staff (CAP, BEP, domestic science school, music school) or children from childcare facilities. Visitors will also be able to browse through exercise books and textbooks, old sewing projects, and view press articles and photographs from the 1930s to the 1990s.
The exhibition is family-friendly, featuring a children’s trail and fun activities.
