“Les Affluentes” par Khouloud Benzarti, au Moulin de la Garenne et au Moulin de la Charlotte

As part of the Les Affluentes residency, designer and artist Khouloud Benzarti explores mills as machines that harness natural forces.

Following a survey of the Pays d’Ancenis, she designed two drawing machines: one wind-powered at the Moulin de la Garenne (Pannecé), the other water-powered at the Moulin de la Charlotte (Saint-Mars-la-Jaille). These devices capture and amplify the movements of the wind and water to create patterns that reveal invisible forces. The residency, characterised by research and collaboration with the mill keepers, culminates in a public presentation of the machines and the research carried out.

Residency showcase: Sunday 30 August 2026, from 2 pm to 6 pm. At the Moulin de la Garenne in Pannecé and the Moulin de la Charlotte in Saint-Mars-la-Jaille.

2.00 pm: Presentation of the project by Khouloud Benzarti and demonstration of the wind-powered drawing machine.
From 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm: Self-guided tour of the installation.
Every 30 minutes, from 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm: Guided tours of the mill.
(Admission: €3 per person aged 16 and over.)
