The MAT centre d’art contemporain du Pays d’Ancenis and the Centre Claude Cahun are offering a guided tour of the Rétive exhibition and an aperitif.
These exhibitions, held in 3 venues in the Ancenis region, bring together two photographic projects from residencies carried out in 2024 and 2025. Nathyfa Michel surveyed the banks of the Erdre and Loire rivers. Jérôme Blin travelled along the Maroni River in western Guyana. Nathyfa looks for water from Nantes to Freigné, but it is often absent, disciplined and privatised. Jérôme finds it in French Guiana, but the river has withdrawn, revealing its bed like an open wound. These two inventories of restive and sometimes invisible rivers meet at the Brasserie Cali. At the Moulin de Bel Air, two intimate diptychs invite us to share what links the living to the memory of the place. The third section takes the form of a journey from one building to another at the Ty MaD’ Bio Farm. Here we encounter gestures of attention to plants, rain, ponds and to those who take care of them.
