The Loire à Vélo cycle route linking Ingrandes-le-Fresne-sur-Loire, Montrelais, Loireauxence and Saint-Florent-le-Vieil.
Fancy cycling along the banks of the Loire?
Important information: the road surface has deteriorated at Varades (Loireauxence), and a diversion has been put in place. You can download the attached document.
Pedal along and discover the little paths that run alongside the wild river, take in the pretty views and enjoy!
Leaving from Varades, at the start of the village of La Meilleraie, an old fishing village, you can see the abbey church of Saint-Florent-le-Vieil.
Then head towards Ingrandes-Le Fresne sur Loire. Between these two towns, you can stop off at La Guinch’ette, a family-run guinguette on the banks of the Loire in Montrelais. You can also stop off to see an exhibition at MAT, the contemporary art centre in Montrelais.
Arriving at Ingrandes-Le Fresne-sur-Loire, the bridge, slipways and quays still bear witness to a busy port. This “Petite Cité de Caractère” (small town of character), which is currently in the process of being approved, will charm visitors as they pass through. Crossing the bridge, you can reach the Ingrandes beach, where you can enjoy water games in summer and outdoor activities for children. Then head off towards Saint-Florent-le-Vieil to complete the loop.
