Discover the Loire by bike between Angers and Nantes on a 23km loop linking Champtoceaux and Oudon to Mauves sur Loire. Discover both banks of the Loire!

Starting from Champtoceaux, a former stronghold overlooking the Loire, this 23 km circular route takes you on a journey of discovery along the historic border between Anjou and Brittany. With its stunning panoramic views, charming villages and exceptional heritage, let yourself be enchanted by one of the river’s most beautiful valleys.

After leaving the Cul du Moulin site and its iconic hanging mill, head to La Varenne, where a superb viewpoint opens out onto the Loire Valley. On the horizon, you can make out Clermont Castle, the former home of Louis de Funès, and the vineyard-covered hillsides that shape the landscape.

Continue your walk through the floodplain meadows, true havens of biodiversity, before crossing the Loire towards Mauves-sur-Loire, then Le Cellier. This is the perfect opportunity for a gourmet stop to discover the wines of the Nantes vineyards, such as Malvoisie or Muscadet at the Domaine des Genaudières.

Look up so as not to miss the astonishing Folies Siffait, a romantic garden clinging to the hillside, before reaching Oudon. Dominated by its imposing medieval castle, this village on the Loire invites you to trace the thread of history and uncover the secrets of the Loire, a living river shaped by the centuries.

An accessible and scenic loop, ideal for combining the pleasure of cycling with exploring the landscapes and the region’s rich heritage.
