Historical interpretation trail: former historical border between Brittany and Anjou, discovery of the houses of bargemen and shipowners, port life…
As lovers, hand in hand, wander through the streets and alleys of this Loire town, discovering the opulent mansions of merchants alongside the houses of bargemen and fishermen. Imagine the sounds and colours of the port.
Behind the quays of Le Fresne-sur-Loire lie architectural treasures that bear witness to a thriving port industry. Separated from Ingrandes by a single alleyway (rue de la Pierre de Bretagne), Le Fresne-sur-Loire marks the beginning of the Pays d’Ancenis and the historic border between Anjou and Brittany.
If you’re a curious visitor, a number of interpretation panels will give you all the keys you need to discover these two communes. Don’t forget to stop for a break with a view of the Loire, near the bridge, the slipways or at the Bastille: beautiful scenery guaranteed!
