Château de Vieille Cour is a ruined medieval fortified castle in Oudon, built in the second half of the 13th century.
The castle site sits on a steep hillside overlooking the Hâvre valley. It comprises a high courtyard and a low courtyard surrounded by dry ditches. The upper courtyard, covering an area of almost half a hectare, is protected by an enclosure comprising a defensive tower, a double gateway and walls. It mainly houses the seigneurial dwelling.
Built in the second half of the 13th century by the Châteaugiron family, the castle was dismantled in 1392 when the Duke of Brittany granted Alain de Malestroit permission to build a new castle in Oudon on condition that Vieille Cour was destroyed.
Guided tours all year round by appointment for groups of 10 or more.
