Église du vieux bourg de Saint-Sulpice des Landes

VALLONS-DE-L’ERDRE

A rare reminder of a prosperous period in our region, the Vieux-Bourg church in Saint-Sulpice-des Landes is a listed historic monument for its rich medieval painted decoration.

Between Saint-Mars-la-Jaille and La Chapelle-Glain, the former parish church of Saint-Sulpice-des-Landes, dating from the 14th and 15th centuries, contains remarkable murals listed as Historic Monuments. They depict the life of Christ. The church has been preserved thanks to the efforts of the Loire-Atlantique Department, which has owned it since 1979.

The church is open to visitors on certain special occasions, such as Heritage Days. Outside these dates, guided tours are available only for groups and must be booked in advance via the reception at Châteaubriant Castle on 02 40 28 20 20 or chateau.chateaubriant@loire-atlantique.fr

However, you can take a virtual tour of the church at https://visite-saint-sulpice.loire-atlantique.fr/
