At the Vioreau Pleine Nature base, you can enjoy a range of sporting activities on land and water, as well as taking part in workshops to raise awareness and discover the natural environment.
Situated in Joué-sur-Erdre, in the heart of a designated protected natural area, Vioreau Pleine Nature is a unique natural site in Loire-Atlantique. The lake, the largest navigable inland body of water in the department, is one of the tourist attractions of the Pays d’Ancenis. This must-visit spot on sunny days is perfect for relaxation as well as leisure activities. With swimming, games, walks and picnics in the shade, the leisure centre invites you to spend an afternoon or a day unwinding.
Lined with shaded picnic tables, the Vioreau Pleine Nature site is the perfect spot for an al fresco lunch in refreshing surroundings. The well-maintained site features a picnic area, toilets, showers and a snack bar where you can grab a bite to eat during the day. In summer, it’s also lovely to cool off by the water’s edge or enjoy a swim. The beach at Lac de Vioreau is supervised throughout the summer from 2 pm to 6 pm by lifeguards. They ensure that the rules are followed to keep the site running smoothly and maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
Situated on the edge of the forest, you can round off your day with a walk around the lake. The 10.5 km loop follows the lakeshore through a peaceful and picturesque setting. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover all the different aspects of this site: the beach, the natural areas, the charming houses and the vast Vioreau Forest.
Vioreau Pleine Nature is therefore an ideal playground for swimming, enjoying water sports (dinghy sailing, catamaran sailing, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing) and land-based activities (archery, mountain biking, rock climbing, orienteering), as well as taking part in workshops to raise awareness of and explore the natural environment.
The site is also a prime spot for anglers. As the largest reservoir in the department, Lake Vioreau is home to a healthy population of predatory fish, mainly zander and perch, as well as a good number of common and mirror carp. Fishing permits are available from the Amical des Pêcheurs de Vioreau at the Coccimarket grocery and tobacconist’s (322 Rue du Bocage). Calling all fishing enthusiasts!
At Lake Vioreau, you can enjoy a wide range of activities: mountain biking, rock climbing, orienteering, canoeing and kayaking, pedalos, dinghies, stand-up paddleboarding, catamarans, windsurfing and electric boats.
